Interface
This article describes the main elements of the Evospace user interface and explains their basic functions. For a step-by-step introduction to gameplay mechanics, see Quick Start Guide.
Map & World Generation
When starting a new game, you will first see the world generation screen. Here you can configure the main parameters of your world before creating it.
World Generation Settings
On the right side of the screen, you can configure the world generation settings:

World Name Each world must have a unique name. If a name is already in use, it will be highlighted in red and you will not be able to proceed.
Generator Determines the overall appearance of the map. The Concrete World generator differs significantly from other options: it contains no resources and no decorations. This generator is intended only for use in Creative mode.
Mode Defines the gameplay mode:
- Normal — standard gameplay experience.
- Creative — unlimited resources, flight enabled, and instant research completion.
Research Controls research progression:
- Standard — gradual research progression.
- All Completed — all research unlocked at the start (recommended only for Creative mode).
Deposits Defines how resource deposits behave:
- Depletable — extraction speed gradually decreases over time.
- Infinite — deposits never deplete.
World Seed A combination of letters and numbers used to generate the world. Worlds created with the same generator and seed will always have identical layouts.
Map Display Filters
At the bottom of the screen, you can find map display options. These settings do not affect world generation and are used only as visual filters:
Fertility
Required for autofarms and especially important during the early stages of the game.
Oil Deposits
Oil becomes an important resource during the mid and late game.
Ore Deposits
Ores are the primary source of resources at all stages of the game. Resource variety is important, as ore deposits are infinite. Pay special attention to Chalcopyrite and Malachite, as these ores contain copper required for early progression.
Display Settings
Allows enabling the display of:
- Ore names
- Ore composition
- Fertility percentage
- Oil deposit percentage
The percentage or Yield value on the map indicates the resource extraction efficiency. Each machine extracting the corresponding resource (such as an Automatic Farm or a Pumpjack) uses up to 100% of this value to operate at full capacity. For example, a fertility of 50% would mean that one Auto-Farm will operate at half its maximum speed, while a second Automatic Farm in that location will not work at all.
Hotbar

At the bottom center of the screen, you can see the hotbar, which provides quick access to items.
The leftmost slot displays the item currently held in your hands. If you are not holding anything, it will show Empty Hand.
The first numbered slot contains the Multitool. This is your primary tool used to mine blocks, machines, terrain, and resources.
The second slot contains Basic Platform, identical to the blocks your starting platform is made of. At the beginning of the game, you receive 999 Basic Platforms.

To free your hands, select the currently held item again. |
Interacting with Blocks
Using the Right Mouse Button while holding an empty hand opens the interface of a block or machine.
Inventory
To open the inventory, press E.
The central panel displays your Inventory, while the panel on the right is the Catalog.
The Inventory stores all collected resources, blocks, and any items you craft. At the start of the game, your inventory contains logs, stones, and Basic Platforms.
At the top of the Catalog, you will find four buttons:
- Unlocked — shows only recipes you currently have access to.
- Favorites — displays recipes marked as favorites.
- All — shows all available recipes.
- Search — used together with the search field located to the right of the buttons.
Inventory and Hotbar Interaction
To assign an item to the hotbar, click and hold it in the Inventory using the Left Mouse Button and place it into any free hotbar slot.
To clear a hotbar slot, right-click the slot using the Right Mouse Button.
You can place blocks and machines without assigning them to the hotbar. Simply pick up the item in the Inventory, then close the Inventory by pressing E.
Crafting Items
To craft an item, click on its recipe with the Left Mouse Button.
To access additional options, click on a recipe with the Right Mouse Button. This menu allows you to:
- Craft multiple items at once
- View the research required for the item
- Add the recipe to Favorites for quick access in the Catalog
To view all recipes related to the selected item, click the recipe with the Middle Mouse Button.
Other Interface Elements
In the upper-left corner of the screen, you can see a tooltip displaying information about the item currently under the crosshair.
In the lower-left corner of the screen, there is a group of interface buttons.
The top row contains time control buttons:
- The first four buttons allow you to select the time of day.
- The button with the L icon freezes time.
The bottom row of buttons starts with the Research button, which opens the Research window. It is followed by:
- A button to toggle Creative Mode (available only when using this mode).
- A Flight toggle button, available in Creative mode or after obtaining a jetpack.
- A button that highlights machine inputs and outputs.
